TYPE 1 Pays full (100 percent) college tuition and authorized fees at any public or private institution with an Air Force ROTC detachment. Type 1 selectees will also receive a monthly living expense stipend and an annual book stipend. TYPE 2 Pays up to $18,000 per year in college tuition and authorized fees at any public or private institution with an Air Force ROTC detachment. Scholarship payment is further capped at $9,000 per semester or $6,000 per quarter. Type 2 selectees will also receive a monthly living expense stipend and an annual book stipend. TYPE 7 Pays full (100 percent) college tuition and authorized fees (capped at the in-state tuition rate) at a public institution with an Air Force ROTC detachment. Type 7 selectees will also receive a monthly living expense stipend and an annual book stipend. Students offered a Type 7 scholarship will be given the option to convert their scholarship to a three-year Type 2 scholarship that can be used at out-of-state or private schools. A three-year Type 2 scholarship will start during the sophomore year of school. Note: AFROTC Scholarships do not cover room and board. STIPEND ENTITLEMENTS The annual book stipend is $900 per academic year, and the monthly stipend increases based on an individual’s student status. Freshman: $300 Sophomore: $350 Junior: $450 Senior: $500 TRAVEL EXPENSES All high school scholarship recipients are authorized to have their travel expenses covered from their home to the Air Force ROTC detachment’s college where the student enrolls. Reimbursement for travel will be received approximately 30 days after the start of school. TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION Three-year scholarship recipients will not begin to receive scholarship stipends or have their tuition and fees payments covered until the beginning of their sophomore year. HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS U.S. CITIZENSHIP Applicants must either be a United States citizen or obtain U.S. citizenship by the last day of the first term of their freshman year (for four-year offers) or the first term of sophomore year (for three-year offers). MEDICAL Applicants must pass a Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DODMERB) medical exam. Applicants will either be scheduled to take the physical exam at the nearest military base or be sent to a designated civilian contractor. ACADEMICS SAT composite of 1240 or ACT composite of 26. Super scores are not accepted. Applicants unable to secure a test prior to the application deadline should contact their scholarship technician. Cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher. FITNESS Complete the Physical Fitness Assessment, which consists of three events: push-ups, sit-ups, and a 1.5-mile run. If offered a scholarship, you must pass the Physical Fitness Test before the end of your first semester of college.
