This scholarship was established by the American College of Healthcare Executives in honor of Albert W. Dent, the 1st African-American Fellow of ACHE.

WHO WE ARE The American College of Healthcare Executives is an international professional society of more than 51,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations. ACHE is known for its prestigious credentialing and educational programs, as well as its magazine and journals. ACHE takes pride in providing exceptional value to its members and has made these scholarships available to help future healthcare leaders.

THE ALBERT W. DENT AND FOSTER G. MCGAW GRADUATE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP Named for Albert W. Dent, the first African-American Fellow of ACHE, and Foster G. McGaw, the American Hospital Supply Corporation founder, these opportunities are available to students in financial need and open to all eligible applicants. The Albert W. Dent and Foster G. McGaw Graduate Student Scholarship has a value of $5,000. Every year ACHE awards up to a total of 15 scholarships.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicant is not required to be a Student Associate* of ACHE. • Applicant must be enrolled in his or her final year (fall/spring) of full-time study in a healthcare management graduate program** and have a graduation date between Sept. 1, 2026, and Aug. 31, 2027. If you have a residency as part of your program and the upcoming fall term will be your second year of study, you may apply for a scholarship. • Applicant must demonstrate financial need. • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, or a Canadian citizen. • Applicant cannot be a previous recipient of either scholarship. • If eligible, applicant may apply for both scholarships
