Support for education is a cornerstone of our commitment to the men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard and their families. If you are the child of an active duty, retired, or active reserve Coast Guard member, you are eligible to apply. For the current scholarship cycle, successful applicants can expect awards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.
When the scholarship program began in 1990, we focused on one goal — providing Coast Guard families the opportunity to send their children to college. Since that time, the cost of higher education has skyrocketed, making our original aspiration even more relevant for today’s Coast Guard families. We're proud to report that our scholarship program is impacting more families than ever before in our history. These scholars are among the best and brightest, displaying not only outstanding academic achievement but also the characteristics befitting of the Coast Guard’s core values.
Of special note for the current year, the Admiral Robert E. Kramek Scholarship was awarded for the first time in 2019. The Coast Guard Foundation Admiral Robert E. Kramek Scholarship was established to honor the service of the 20th Commandant of the United States Coast Guard. Admiral Kramek led a storied career of service that began in 1961, when he graduated with honors from the Coast Guard Academy. The scholarship is open to all children of Coast Guard officers, Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officers, Coast Guard enlisted members, active duty, reserve, and retired.
