Sponsored by the Marines' Memorial Association and Foundation, the Dr. Nancy M. Schonher Scholarship honors Dr. Nancy M. Schonher, a U.S. Naval Officer and one of the first female military physicians during WWII. This $5,000 scholarship is awarded to one woman who meets one of the following criteria:

  • Is an active duty service member or reservist in the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • Has separated honorably from the U.S. Armed Forces since 2016.
  • Is a current or former corpsman or medic in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • Is a child or grandchild of an active Marine's Memorial Association member.

Applicants must be enrolled in one of the following programs from the academic year:

  • An advanced medical program (nursing, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, MD or DO) at an accredited U.S. college or university.
  • An accredited paramedic program (must have completed EMT Basic training, passed the National Registry EMT Exam, hold EMT certification, and have at least six months of work experience).
