Leave No Veteran Behind (LNVB) provides educational debt relief through a retroactive scholarship program. Like other scholarships, applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must have served:
- At least two years on active duty, or
- Eight years in the Reserves or National Guard, or
- Over 30 consecutive days in a combat zone (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard).
- Veterans with service-connected disabilities preventing them from meeting these requirements may also qualify.
- Applicants must have an honorable discharge or a case-reviewed discharge.
- Must have completed some form of higher education, such as:
- Technical school
- Associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree
- Veterans with a service-connected disability rating from the VA that prevents completing a degree are also eligible.
Additional Requirements:
- Applicants must hold education-related loans from a lending institution.
- A personal letter explaining how educational debt has caused personal or family hardship is required.
- Recipients must complete 100-400 hours of community service after receiving the scholarship.
