Eligibility Requirements:

  • Open to spouses of active duty or retired soldiers and surviving spouses of soldiers who died while on active duty or in retirement.
  • Retired Army Reserve spouses are eligible if the soldier retired due to a physical disability or at age 60 under Title 10 Subtitle E Part II Chapter 1223, U.S. Code.
  • Must be enrolled part-time (6+ credit hours per term) or full-time (12+ credit hours per term) in an undergraduate program.
  • Must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Not open to members of the National Guard, Reserves, or other military branches.
  • Must be registered in DEERS.
  • Cannot be fully funded by other sources (e.g., GI Bill, MyCAA, VA benefits, or other scholarships).

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Awards are need-based, determined by the Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA.
  • Scholarships are granted annually for up to four years.
  • Covers tuition for undergraduate courses only (does not apply to second undergraduate degrees or graduate studies).
  • Does not cover tuition for those receiving free tuition through employment but may assist with fees, books, or supplies.
  • Recipients must submit an online application and provide supporting documentation each year.

This scholarship is not automatic and must be applied for each year through Army Emergency Relief (AER).
