North Carolina Scholarship for Children of Wartime Veterans

The North Carolina Scholarship Program honors the service and sacrifice of the state's war veterans by providing educational opportunities to their children. To date, over 20,000 scholarships have been awarded.

Eligibility Requirements

• Available to children of deceased, disabled, combat, or POW/MIA veterans, as defined in 37 U.S.C. § 401.
• Applicant must be under 25 years old at the time of application.
• The veteran's qualifying service must have occurred during a period of war.
• At the time of application, the applicant must be a legal resident and domiciled in North Carolina.

Additionally, one of the following conditions must be met:

1. The veteran parent was a legal resident of North Carolina at the time of their entrance into the qualifying period of service.
2. The applicant was born in North Carolina and has remained a resident.

Scholarship Details

• Covers up to eight academic semesters at North Carolina schools.
• Recipients have eight years to use the awarded semesters.

Application Deadline

• February 14 if the veteran’s disability is less than 100% service-connected or they served in a combat zone.
