Detail

Teach Grants provide conditional grant money to students who agree to teach in certain high-need subjects in low-income schools. The grant converts to a Direct Unsubsidized loan for those who do not fulfill the teaching obligation.

Students must complete a TEACH Grant agreement to serve and counseling each year and exit counseling when students are no longer enrolled as half-time students.

TEACH Grant Management

Recipients now interact directly with the U.S. Department of Education (ED) for:

  • Submitting and managing TEACH Grant certification forms, as well as suspension and discharge requests, via StudentAid.gov.

  • Requesting voluntary grant conversion or reconsideration of loan conversion by calling 1-888-303-7818.

  • Mailing or faxing suspension, discharge, and reconsideration requests to:

Federal Student Aid Programs - TEACH
    P.O. Box 300010
    Greenville, TX 75403
    Fax: 540-212-2415

Note: Discharge and certain suspension requests (military service, military spouse, disaster area) are on hold until spring 2025, though submissions are still accepted via upload, mail, or fax.
