The American Legion Legacy Scholarship is a needs-based financial aid program designed to assist children of U.S. military members who have died while on active duty after September 11, 2001, or children of post-9/11 veterans with a disability rating of 50% or higher as determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The scholarship aims to bridge the financial gap after federal and state grants have been applied. Each recipient can receive up to $20,000 annually for undergraduate or postgraduate education and can reapply for up to six years. Awards must be used within one year, and recipients are announced in May.
