To qualify for the Texas Equalization Grant (TEG), students must meet the following requirements:

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Texas Residency: Must be classified as a Texas resident by completing the Texas Residency Questionnaire.
  • Financial Need: Must demonstrate financial need.
  • Enrollment: Must enroll in at least 12 credit hours per semester.
  • Degree Program: Must be enrolled in an undergraduate, degree-seeking program pursuing a first Bachelor's degree.
  • Selective Service: Male students must be registered for Selective Service or exempt.

Renewal Requirements:

  • First-year recipients must meet Financial Aid Satisfactory Progress.
  • Second-year and beyond must complete 24 credit hours with a 2.5 cumulative GPA.

Restrictions:

  • Students receiving athletic or church vocation awards or enrolled in a program leading to religious ministry are not eligible.
  • HCU does not offer hardship provisions.

Awarding Process:

  • Awards are based on the FAFSA submission date.
  • Priority funding is given to residential students who meet the criteria.
