To qualify for the Texas Equalization Grant (TEG), students must meet the following requirements:
Eligibility Criteria:
- Texas Residency: Must be classified as a Texas resident by completing the Texas Residency Questionnaire.
- Financial Need: Must demonstrate financial need.
- Enrollment: Must enroll in at least 12 credit hours per semester.
- Degree Program: Must be enrolled in an undergraduate, degree-seeking program pursuing a first Bachelor's degree.
- Selective Service: Male students must be registered for Selective Service or exempt.
Renewal Requirements:
- First-year recipients must meet Financial Aid Satisfactory Progress.
- Second-year and beyond must complete 24 credit hours with a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
Restrictions:
- Students receiving athletic or church vocation awards or enrolled in a program leading to religious ministry are not eligible.
- HCU does not offer hardship provisions.
Awarding Process:
- Awards are based on the FAFSA submission date.
- Priority funding is given to residential students who meet the criteria.
